HOBOKEN, NJ - The Verona Hillbillies football team kept their winning steak alive with a 26-20 win over Hoboken in Hoboken on Friday.

Jake McConnachie opened the scoring for Verona when he caught a 36-yard pass from Cael Zebrowski in the first quarter.  Steven Luehs' extra point made it 7-0.  Hoboken answered quickly with a 21. yard run from Kyrin Rhone, with Khalil Murray's kick tying the game.

Hoboken's Damon Murray made it 14-7 when he caught a 48-yard pass from Jason Blanks.  With just under five minutes left in the half, with Verona at 4th and goal, Frank Riggio run and Luehs' kick made it a tie game.

Hoboken came out strong in the second half with a touch down from Jason Jeannot, but the Hillbillies blocked the kick.  Jake Maisano answered for Verona and the two teams were once again tied, ending the third quarter at 20-20.

WIth just under five minutes to play, Zebrowski found Shane Lawless in the endzone to take the lead.  The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, but proved unnecessary in the end.

Verona moves to 6-0 with the win.  They travel to Cedar Grove on Friday at 7 p.m.
