CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Jessica Sinisi delivered five rebounds and 17 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the No. 19 seed Cedar Grove Panthers girls basketball team to a 52-22 win over No. 26 Shabazz in the play-in round of the Essex County Tournament in Cedar Grove on Friday.
The Panthers jumped ahead early on, leading 21-14 at the half. Cedar Grove's dominance continued in the second half, where they outscored Shabazz 14-2 in the third quarter and 17-6 in the fourth quarter.
Ava Mandala tallied nine points, eight assists and four rebounds in the win, while Ava Fernandez had six points, five rebounds and two assists for the Panthers. Kelly Zaccaria grabbed nine rebounds for Cedar Grove and added three points.
The Panthers are 7-10 for the season so far. They will travel to Bloomfield Tech on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and will take on No. 14 Caldwell in the preliminary round of the ECT on Thursday at 4 p.m. in Caldwell.
