NEWARK, NJ - The Verona girls cross-country team won the SEC Liberty Conference
championship on Tuesday at Branch Brook Park.

Each member of the Hillbilly team achieved her personal best with the entire team running as a pack from start to finish. Sophomore Jenika Ying placed second in 21:45, followed by Kate Ashley 22:29, Brianna Rigney 22:30, Julia DiGeronimo 22:32, Karishma Parekh 22:41, Kathleen Nagy 22:50 and  Adrianna Fierro 22:50. In a field of 68 girls, Verona had seven of the first 14 finishers.

"It truly was a textbook performance that will long be remembered," coach Gene Leporati said.  "I’m so proud of this group; (they) have been working so hard to win this championship."
