CEDAR GROVE, NJ -- Cedar Grove said farewell to its two senior players Jackie Downs and Emma Wurch with a 14-8 win over Hoboken at home on Wednesday.

The young program which is finishing up its first-ever varsity season, has struggled with the increased competition at the varsity level in the last few weeks, but pulled off the win for its last home game of the season.  The Lady Panthers took charge in the first half, scoring eight goals to Hoboken's four, but Hoboken fought back in the second and the Panthers fought hard to earn the win.

"Today's game did not go how we expected it to, but I'm glad it happened the way that it did. We've played in a lot of close games lately and have been coming out on the losing end. It's nice to see our players battle and come out on top today," said head coach Sean Sweeney.  " There was definitely some extra motivation to get a win for our seniors Jackie Downs and Emma Wurch on Senior Day."

Mikayla Hom and Taylor St. Laurent each had four goals in the win, while Tracy Moreno and Bethany Peterson chipped in three goals a piece.  The Panthers will travel to Lenape Valley on Friday at 6 pm.
