WEST ORANGE, NJ - The 14th Annual World Impact Golfathon chaired by Jay and Debbie Mason of Verona was held Monday at Essex County's Francis Byrne Golf Course in West Orange.
More than 60 golfers came out to play in support of the Newark Christian School.
“It was the best weather we have had in the 14 years, “ Jay Mason commented.
Each golfer must solicit sponsors and attempt to play 100 holes of golf in one day. Supporters can pay per hole or donate a lump sum toward the golfer’s efforts.
The money raised in the golf marathon provides scholarships to children of low-income families in Newark and the surrounding communities to attend the Newark Christian School. Funds also go toward providing services to the youth and adults in the Newark area, by funding ministry clubs for children and teens and helping to pay to send them to summer camp.
The Newark Christian School serves low income families in Newark and surrounding communities. Tuition is based on family income and some pay as little as $100 per year.
