CEDAR GROVE, NJ – An investigation by Cedar Grove Police led to the arrest of a 23-year-old Newark woman on Friday.
The investigation began when a resident reported the theft of more than $7,000 of jewelry on April 18. According to reports, the jewelry had been taken from her master bedroom, with several pieces going missing over several days. Because there was no signs of forced entry, nor had anyone been in the house, the elderly resident began to suspect that their home aide may be involved.
Detectives John Smigelsky and Carolyn Lynch were assigned to the case, with Det. Smigelsky checking area gold purchasing business for the jewelry. Det. Smigelsky did locate one of the stolen rings in a local shop, which was returned to the victim.
The home aide was interviewed by detectives on Friday and admitted to the theft. Shadaisia Bolden had an active warrant and was placed under arrest, charged, and then released pending a June 19 court date.
