Ice Hockey: Verona/Glen Ridge Defeats Mendham, 4-2

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Sean DeCandia delivered two goals and an assist to help lead the Verona/Glen Ridge Hillbillies to a 4-2 win over the Mendham Minutemen in the Essex County Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena on Wednesday night.

Mendham was on the board first when Jake Marszalek scored with just under 12 minutes left in the first period.  However, back to back goals in the last minute of the period gave Verona/Glen Ridge the lead.  The first came from Jarrod Keating with help from DeCandia.  Less than 20 seconds later, Jake Kuhn found the back of the net for the Hillbillies, assisted by Keating and Armaan Rigby.

DeCandia capitalized on a power play early in the third period to increase Verona/Glen Ridge's lead to 3-1, but Marszalek helped the Minutemen battle back with a goal at the seven minute mark assisted by Ryan Bruin.  DeCandia sealed the deal for the Hillbillies with an empty net goal with just over three minutes left in regulation play.
