WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Verona/Glen Ridge ice hockey team shut out Nutley/Columbia, 2-0, at Codey Arena on Saturday night.
After a scoreless first period, Sean DeCandia put VGR on the board with 2:53 left in the second period. VGR followed that up with a second goal from Aidan Brennan, assisted by Noah Martinez and Dylan Ruggiero, with 6:15 left in regulation play to clinch the win.
Colin Gilmore had 24 saves for VGR while Johnny Matrona had 37 for Nutley/Columbia.
The win improves VGR to 12-3-6 for the season. They take on Cranford at the Wawrinaco Skating Center on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
