Ice Hockey: Verona/Glen Ridge Topples Northern Valley, 5-2

WEST ORANGE, NJ - In a true team effort, five different scorers lifted the Verona/Glen Ridge Hillbillies to a 5-2 win over the Northern Valley Golden Knights in round-robin play in the Essex County Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena on Tuesday.

Jarrod Keating put Verona/Glen Ridge on the board first with just about six minutes left in the first period, assisted by Jake Kuhn and Sean DeCandia.  Luke Geraci answered for Norther Valley two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 and Andrew Basin followed that up with a goal with just over a minute left in the period to give the Golden Knights the lead, however that proved to be the end of Northern Valley's scoring.

The Hillbillies came out swinging in the second, with both Alec Vecchione and Anton Martino finding the back of the net to give VGR the lead.  The Hillbillies dominance continued in the third period when Noah Martinez scored on an assist from DeCandia during power play and Jake Kuhn capitalized on another power play to wrap things up for Verona.
