We are writing in support of Joe Cicala for Cedar Grove Town Council. After serving on the Board of Education for six years, Joe has seamlessly transitioned to the Council, where he plays a major role in making significant contributions to our community. In addition to always maintaining fiscal responsibility (Cedar Grove has the lowest tax rate in Essex County), Joe is attentive to the needs of all residents, young and old. Two recent and tangible examples include collaborating with the Board of Education to donate $3,000 for new high school wrestling mats, and improving pedestrian, jogger and cyclist safety by installing a new crosswalk and signage on Bowden Road near the West Essex Trail.

Joe is also committed to preserving open space, particularly the wooded Newark reservoir property which is the largest remaining open space in Cedar Grove, and he has a solid plan for utilizing the PILOT  monies that the town will gain from the incoming Hilltop Development taxes.

Joe has proven his commitment to the residents of Cedar Grove time and time again, and he deserves your vote on May 9.
