WEST ORANGE, NJ  There will be more time available to spend at the Turtle Back Zoo come July and August.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays during those months, the  zoo will have Family Nights, with extended evening hours to 8:30 p.m. Last admission to the Zoo will be at 8 p.m. 

Also in July and August, under the stars on the top floor of the Turtle Back Zoo parking deck, "Zoo-vies​", featuring animal-related movies, will be shown. Viewers should bring their own chair or blanket on which to sit, and films will begin at dusk. Admission to the movies is free, and will be canceled in the event of rain.

"It’s a great way to spend a summer night and experience Turtle Back in a completely different way,” said County Executive Joe DiVincenzo.

During Family Nights, special dinner packages also will be offered at the newly-opened Savanna Café. The schedule for Zoo-vies is as follows:

  • Wednesday, August 31: Zootopia
