Maplewood's Dickens Village: Events Begin this Saturday, Dec. 2

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The "little houses" are back in Ricalton Square in Maplewood Village, with a tree lighting and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus this Saturday, Dec. 2, and plenty more Dickens Village activities planned for Saturday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 16. There will be a menorah lighting on Monday, Dec. 18.

Breakfast with Santa happens on Saturday, December 9. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are on sale at Village Wine Shop for the St. James’s Gate location, at No. 165 for the Village Trattoria, and at Cedar Ridge Cafe, which is a new location this year.

1 p.m. - Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive escorted by the Maplewood Fire Department

1-4 p.m. - Dickens Village Houses open for viewing

1-3 p.m. - Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus

1-4 p.m. - Santa's reindeer visit Ricalton Square

3-4 p.m.  Story Hour readings by Amelia Butler, Children's Librarian

4:30 p.m. - Tree Lighting Program - The Christmas Carol by Library Director Sarah Lester; Traditional Holiday Reading by Mayor Vic DeLuca

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9

8 a.m. -  Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Cedar Ridge Cafe

9:30 a.m. - Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus at St. James's Gate and the Village Trattoria 

1-4 p.m. - Dickens Village Houses open for viewing

1-4 p.m. - Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus

1-4 p.m. - Horse & Wagon rides

1:30-3:30 p.m. - Jack’s Petting Farm

2-2:45 p.m. - Holiday reading for children at Words Bookstore

On May 4, 2018 at 2:58 p.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for not having an inspection decal and an obstructed windshield. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28 year old male operator from Paterson for driving with a suspended license and having a suspended registration. His vehicle was impounded and he was released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
