Mourners Gather to Remember State Trooper Bill Fearon

CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Hundreds of people gathered in Cedar Grove on Friday to remember the life of State Trooper Bill Fearon.  Mourners waited for several hours in the cold and snow to honor the memory of Fearon and pay respects to his family.  

A long-time resident of Cedar Grove, Fearon was born in Kearny and served more than 20 years in the New Jersey State Police, recently earning the rank of Lieutenant.  He was diagnosed with a gliomablastoma brain tumor in May 2015 which is believe to be connected to his service at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks.

Fearon was also a dedicated volunteer in his community, earning the Cedar Grove Recreation Advisory Board Award in November of 2015 in recognition of the time he gave coaching and supporting the athletic and recreation programs in town.

His dedication to his family, friends and community was evident to all who knew him.  He is survived by his wife Janice, his children Ryan, Elyse and Jessie, and numerous other family and friends.

A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 a.m., at Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington, N.J., with interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 435, Cedar Grove, N.J. 07009.
