VERONA, NJ — The school search platform Niche.com this week published its 2021 ranking of Best Public High Schools, and West Essex High School scored high in Essex County's rankings.

Verona High School was rated No. 8 among public schools in Essex County and 15th among all Essex County high schools.  

Verona has 705 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 14:1. It has a 95 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1,210 among its students.

Niche.com gave Verona High School an overall grade of A-, and an A in academics, an A for its teachers, an A for sports and an A for health and safety.

Niche.com says it ranks schools based on a “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.”

Newark Academy was the top-ranked school in Essex County. Millburn was the top-ranked public high school in the county.
