NJ Man Charged After Taking Clothes Off in Police Headquarters

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man is facing charges after disrobing in the police station, police say. 

On August 17 around 10:45 a.m. Sparta Cpl. Marc Rubino and Police Officer Steven Guido went to investigate a call about Jose Lewis violating a temporary restraining order.  Lewis was brought to the Sparta Police headquarters for violating the order, police report.

While sitting on the bench in the cellblock room, waiting to be processed, the 45-year-old took off all of his clothes and began fondling himself, according to police.

Lewis would not let officers cover him with a blanket and only got dressed after the officers agreed to bring him to Newton Medical Center. Lewis was brought to the hospital and then to Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility pending his court appearance on the contempt of court charge, police report.

Lewis was also charged with lewdness and harassment and given another court date.
