VERONA, NJ – Michael Nochimson and Alex Roman were elected to Town Council Tuesday.
It is Nochimson’s second term in office and Roman’s first. According to unofficial election results from the Essex County Clerk’s office, Nochimson led with 1,537 votes, Roman was second with 1,490, Rich Williamson was third with 1,287 and incumbent Frank Sapienza was fourth with 1,239.
Nochimson and Roman both called for greater accountability and transparency in Verona government during their campaign, emphasizing budget management and reduction of the burden on taxpayers.
“This is a victory for all of Verona. I’m gratified and humbled that our message of responsible government, accountable to residents, resonated with so many people,” Nochimson posted on is website after his victory was announced. “I look forward to working together to set Verona on a path towards prosperity and sustainability.”
