North Essex Chamber to Honor Outstanding Members of the Community

WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Thursday June 9th the North Essex Chamber of Commerce (NECC) will be holding its annual recognition dinner honoring outstanding individuals and organizations. Also at this event, winning local high school seniors will receive scholarships to go toward college expenses, and the new Board of Trustees will be inducted for 2016-17.

The businesses and individuals being honored are selected by NECC members. Those being recognized this year are:

  • President’s Award: Barbara Ruiz, C3 Workplace & Kaitlin Kurdyla, Montclair State Conference Services
  • Outstanding Business Award: Kearny Bank
  • Outstanding Non Profit Award: Toni’s Kitchen
  • Outstanding Chamber Member Awards: Danielle Deptula, Kearny Bank & Oana Drew, Minuteman Press Caldwell
  • Outstanding Community Leader Award: Dennis Klein, Rand Fuer & Klein

Scholarships to qualifying high school seniors will also be awarded at this event. The Scholarship recipients were chosen among qualifying high school seniors at schools within the towns served by the North Essex Chamber. Candidates are judged based on academics, extracurricular activities, economic need, work experience, volunteerism, recommendations and a 500-word essay.

“This event enables us to be together to recognize and thank members of the community for their outstanding service during the past year”, shared Holly Kaplansky, President of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce. “It’s our honor and privilege to award the scholarships at this event as well.”

The annual NECC Recognition Dinner will be held from 6 to 9 pm at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange. The evening will consist of beer and wine with passed hors d’oeuvres from 6 to 7 pm followed by sit-down dinner. The cost to attend is $65 by June 6th, or $75 after June 6th.

Everyone is encouraged to show their appreciation for the contribution made by these folks by attending the dinner and/or by purchasing an ad in the event program. BAYONNE, NJ – The case of a near lifetime supply of toothpaste that was taken from a Bayonne pharmacy has been solved.
