WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The Notch Road Bridge over Route 46 opened to two way traffic on March 31. However, motorists should be aware that Lackawanna Avenue is temporarily a one-way only from the bridge to the end of the construction zone.

Traffic can only drive into Woodland Park along Lackawanna. Local traffic only is permitted to pass the "Road Closed" barrier at Lower Notch Road.

Currently, there is one lane for northbound traffic into Woodland Park and one lane for southbound traffic into Little Falls on the bridge. When the roadwork is complete, there will be two lanes southbound and a round-about at the intersection of Notch Road, Rifle Camp Rd. and Lackawanna Avenue.

The bridge closed on Sept. 8, 2017 and officials said at the time it would be closed for three to fourth months. The closure is part of a multi-phase six-year interchange project to improve highway flow for Route 3, Route 46, Valley Road and Notch/Rifle Camp Road.

The Notch Road Bridge connects Little Falls and Woodland Park and provides convenient access to Route 46 for area residents. It crosses over Route 46 and connects Notch Road with Rifle Camp Road and Lackawanna Avenue.

The bridge was demolished and completely reconstructed. The structure was also raised to increase the vertical under clearance of the bridge, according to the Department of Transportation.
