CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Cedar Grove police arrested an Orange woman on Thursday after she fled a cab without paying the fare.
According to police, a taxi driver walked into the lobby at police headquarters around 4 p.m. on Thursday to report that a passenger had just fled his cab without paying the fare. He provided a description of the female actor.
A short time later, Ptl. Jason Rivers located the female on Elm Road and took her into custody. The 29-year-old female, Liesel Chism of Orange, was arrested for theft of service. At the time of her arrest she was found to be in possession of numerous boxes of over the counter medication and 18 pairs of earrings in new packaging.
During an interview Chism confessed to shoplifting this merchandise from the CVS at 387 Pompton Avenue. While in custody, Chism provided a false name in an attempt to hinder her apprehension for an outstanding criminal bench warrant from Kearny Municipal Court. She was charged with the above offenses and turned over to Kearny Police.
