Police Confirm Reports of Clown Sighting in Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield Police Department has confirmed that a report of a clown sighting was made to the department on Thursday evening. TAPinto broke the story at 9:10 p.m. on Oct 20.

According to the department, an anonymous call was made regarding a clown at approximately 8:30 p.m.The call came in for Wright's Field. Officers responded to Wrights Field and questioned people in the park, none reported seeing a clown. 

The "creepy clown" sightings have received national attention in recent weeks, causing concern for law enforcement and school officials. In neighboring Montclair, clown costumes were banned by school officials. 

Target stores and other major retailers have removed clown costumes, and "creepy clown" items in particular, from their shelves.

One of the first clown sightings in New Jersey took place in Hanover Park in late September as reported by TAPinto East Hanover. 

The initial report of the Bloomfield incident from the Breaking News Network (BNN). BNN reported that that police were canvassing the area near Belleville Ave. That report stated that someone was harassing people while dressed as a clown.
