Register Now for Cedar Grove Recreation Summer Programs

Registration for Cedar Grove Recreation summer programs is now open.  To register for any of the programs listed below, visit the recreation department. 

Tot-Lot for ages 4-5 at Memorial Middle School. Camp runs 9 a.m.to 11:30 a.m. (must be age four by start of camp). Need updated immunizations and birth certificate upon registration.

North End & South End for children going into grades 1-5 in September. Camp runs 8:45 a.m.to noon. All playgrounds run from June 29-July 31 (no camp on July 3).

Fee is $150 for the first child and $70 for each additional child. There will be a $10 late fee added after May 29.

Sports Camp for children going into grades 5-8 in September, from 8:45 a.m. to noon at Cedar Grove High School.

  • Basketball June 29-July 2;
  • Cheerleading July 6-10;
  • Baseball July 13-17;
  • Football July 20-24 and Soccer July 27-31.

 Camp is $125 for first child and $70 for each additional child. (the price remains the same whether you participate for all five sports or just one). There will be a $10 late fee added after May 29.

*If you are enrolling in both the Summer Playgrounds and Sports Camp, there is a $15 charge added to your Summer Playground fee.

Summer Tennis Clinics and Suburban Tennis Team

Both the clinics and the team will be instructed by tennis veteran Lynne DiGiacomo. Clinics will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays, running the week of June 29-July 31. You will have a choice of three different sessions; 8 to 8:50 a.m., 9 to 9:50 a.m. or 10 to 10:50 a.m. The clinics are for ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-14 years-old. The fee for clinics is $70.

The Suburban tennis team will run from the week of June 29-July 31 and will have matches on Tuesdays and Fridays versus Verona and Caldwell teams. Practices are to determined. This team is for advanced players going into grades 5-8 in September. The fee is $80.

Both programs will be held at the Bowden courts located on Bowden Road. There will be a $10 late fee added to both programs after May 29.

Summer Basketball Clinic

Instructors, former CGHS Boys Varsity Coach Rob Gogerty and CGHS Girls Varsity Coach Bill Scanlon, will be running a basketball clinic for boys and girls going into grades 5-8 in September.  Camp will run June 22-25 from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Memorial Middle School gym. The fee is $125 and there will be a $10 late fee added after May 29

Summer Volleyball Clinic

Instructors, Ramsey High School Volleyball Coach, Margaret Gorman and Cedar Grove Suburban coach Jim O’Hagan and Erica O’Hagan, will be running a volleyball clinic for boys and girls going into grades 5-9 in September. Camp will run July 6-10 from 1 to -3 p.m. at the Memorial Middle School gym. The fee is $135 and there will be a $10 late fee added after June 26.

Nutley Police Rescue Woman Locked in Burger King Restaurant

NUTLEY, NJ - Officers from the Nutley Police Department responded to a 911 call on Sunday at 5 a.m. from a woman who was locked in the Burger King restaurant off Franklin Ave.

The woman fell asleep in the ladies room sometime prior to closing and woke up only to find all of the employees gone and the doors locked. 

Nutley police responded and entered the building to allow her to leave.
