CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Traffic will be a little heavier than normal on Rt. 23 in Cedar Grove beginning Wednesday, Aug. 16 and continuing for several months.
Both northbound lanes of the highway will be closed from Grove Ave. to Stevens Ave. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the next several months so a gas main replacement project can be completed by PSE&G.
During construction, Rt. 23 will be reduced to one lane in each direction with northbound traffic being shifted to the southbound side of the highway. According to NJDOT, some night work may be necessary as well between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Ferreira Construction is the contractor and the project is expected to be completed in early 2018.
The NJDOT will post signs to alert drivers to all traffic pattern changes that result from the project. Timing on the project may be affected by weather and other factors. Drivers can check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
