SEASIDE PARK,NJ- On June 16, 2017 Beach Days for All was launched on an idea from Jessica Krill to Chris Aldrich on how to gain better access for disabled individuals to our Jersey Shore beaches. After doing some homework and realizing that the access was truly limited, the thought was pitched to Justin Auciello from Jersey Shore Hurricane News, which created the momentum for where we ended up today.

On the same day, Chris Aldrich received a call & email from Joseph Wright, Chief Operating Officer of Matrax Inc, who supplies the temporary mats for events at Met Life Stadium, offering to donate mats to our first fully handicapped beach access.

Being a woman who was born & raised in Seaside Park, with two special needs children, Jessica wished to take our focus to her hometown of Seaside Park, NJ. After several meetings with Mayor Matthies, Councilman Ray Amabile, Administrator Bob Martucci, and the heads of various departments, Seaside Park graciously agreed to be the host community for our initiative. On July 13, 2017, Jessica spoke at the Seaside Park Council meeting, where the council officially & unanimously approved the access & donation of the mats for the creation of the fully integrated handicapped beach.

On July 26, 2017, Jessica & Chris met with Joe Wright from Matrax, Eric Wojeckowski from Seaside Park DPW, Administrator Bob Martucci, & Councilman Ray Amabile to perform the first test of the Matrax panels on the beach. While on it’s test, a few people along with an elderly woman in a walker gave the system a resounding yes vote that the Matrax panels would work. At that point the Borough of Seaside Park at their next council meeting agreed to accept the panel donations, and received the panels from Matrax on August 10th, 2017. On August 11, 2017 workers from the Seaside Park Department of Public Works started installation of the access on “F” Street.

The official “Grand Opening” is slated to be on August 18, 2017 at 10am at the “F” Street access in Seaside Park, new Jersey. All are welcome to attend. Follow our facebook page, for news & updates.
