NEWARK, NJ - No. 6 seed Cedar Grove advanced to the seminfinal round of the first-ever softball Tournament of Champions when they defeated No. 3 seed Robbinsville 2-1 in Newark on Tuesday night.

It was not a perfect game for Faieta, but she dominated none the less.  She gave up three hits, walked one and struck out 13 in the win.

Senior Rianna Marinelli gave the Panthers an early lead with a home run in the first, a lead they extended to 2-0 in the fourth when Kelly Toomey hit an RBI single with two outs.  Robbinsville got on the board in the sixth when Shea Walsh hit an RBI double, but it was not enough to overtake the Panthers.

Cedar Grove will take on No. 2 seed Immaculate Heart at 5 p.m. on Wednesday night in Newark, while No. 5 Lodi Immaculate takes on No. 1 Egg Harbor in the other semifinal at 7:30 p.m.
