Softball: Cedar Grove Defeats Roxbury, but Falls to Nutley

CEDAR GROVE, NJ  – The Cedar Grove Lady Panthers split their last two games, coming from behind on Thursday to defeat Roxbury 7-6 and falling to Nutley 9-1 on Friday.

Ava Fernandez delivered the sacrifice fly to allow Cedar Grove to pull ahead of Roxbury and win 7-6 on the road on Friday.

The Panthers were trailing by two runs in the seventh when Daniella Cordasco drove in two runs on a double to tie the game, followed up by the sacrifice by Fernandez.  Samantha Brancato, Ava Mandala and Olivia Spinella also delivered RBI in the win.

Brancato went 2-for-3 at home against Nutley with an RBI.  Rianna Marinelli went 2-for-4 and Kailey Weinstein had a hit in the losing effort.   

Cedar Grove travels to Livingston Monday at 4 p.m.

VERONA, NJ - Calling All Golfers -- the Verona Music Parents Association is hosting its 3rd Annual Spring Golf Outing on May 9. at the Black Bear Golf Club in Franklin, NJ.
