CEDAR GROVE, NJ – With 13 strikeouts, freshman pitcher Mia Faieta led Cedar Grove to an 8-1 softball victory over Vernon at home on Monday.

Faieta pitched six innings, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out 13. Kailey Weinstein went 3-for-3, scoring three runs with a double and a triple. Ava Fernandez went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI for the Panthers. 

Rianna Marinelli tacked on a double and scored two runs, while Samantha Brancato had two RBI for Cedar Grove.

The win improves the Lady Panthers to 5-5.  They travel to West Essex on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
