VERONA, NJ - Verona started its season off right as the Hillbillies edged out Columbia, 1-0, in softball at home on Monday.

A pitcher's duel ended in the sixth inning when Kaitlyn Deo delivered the game's only RBI to give Verona the lead.

On the mound for the Hillbillies, Christina Colon pitched seven innings, striking out 14 to earn the win.

Catherine John struck out 11 for Columbia.

Verona will host Millburn Friday at 4 p.m.
