MONTCLAIR, NJ - Local high school students gathered at HackensackUMC Mountainside for a STEM Health Care Career Panel.

Physicians and professionals representing diverse disciplines gave insight into the rewards and challenges associated with health care careers. In addition to showcasing their roles at the hospital, the HackensackUMC Mountainside representatives addressed how their educational backgrounds prepared them for their vocations, as well as how they juggle family life and their demanding careers to achieve a harmonious work/life balance.

The dinner program also included a demonstration of da Vinci, the hospital’s surgical robot.

“This was my first experience being on a STEM panel and I really enjoyed it.  I actually learned a lot from my fellow panelists and look forward to being included again next year.” said Cristina Martinez, Nurse Manager at HackensackUMC Mountainside.
