The weather in New Jersey is heating up—making it perfect to get outdoors and enjoy one of the many summer festivals the state is famous for. Local events this weekend will give you a chance to pass the time listening to great live music and sampling an array of delicious cuisine. Occupy the kids as well with plenty of fun for all ages activities at any of the following events.

Flemington Car Show

Every other Saturday during the summer, the Flemington Car Show is held on Main Street in front of the Hunterdon County Courthouse. From 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, the roadway will be packed with the best of the area’s classic cars. Besides live music and a DJ, face painters, games, and balloon animals will be on hand to entertain the kiddos. Food vendors will be selling grab and go foods such as hot dogs and hamburgers.

Strawberry Festival

Who doesn’t love a strawberry festival? The strawberry is definitely one of the area’s favorite fruits and will be celebrated this weekend at the Bergen Highland United Methodist Church in Upper Saddle River. All activities are free with the exception of the cost of food. The festival will be held June 10 from 12 pm to 5 pm.

Groove in the Grove

Lovers of good music will not want to miss this indie songwriter festival in Morris County. The event will take place at Vasa Park on June 10 starting at 1 pm and featuring continuous live music on two stages. Lawn chairs and blankets can be brought to the festival and vendors will be selling both food and alcoholic beverages throughout the day.

The International Mediterranean Food & Wine Festival

On June 11, starting at 11:30 am, international chefs will be taking over the Newark Waterfront Center. Foodies will be able to enjoy delicious dishes such as paella, grilled lamb, kabobs, and Spanish wine. Advance tickets are recommended and the price includes unlimited food, wine and beer.
