MONTCLAIR, NJ - Two pet owners left their two small dogs in a car in Montclair while they dined at Cuban Pete's on Wednesday.

Police on the scene requested aid from the fire department to gain entry into the red Toyota Corolla where they had discovered the two dogs in need of attention due to the heat.  Montclair Fire Department was able to enter the vehicle and remove the animals.  Officers on the scene said the dogs were in distress, but did not appear injured.

Montclair Animal Control and NJSPCA are investigating.
