Verona Competitive Cheerleading Off to a Flying Start

Verona Competitive Cheerleaders have been working hard and experiencing lots of success.  The newly-reorganized teams started competing in January and collectively have brought home five trophies. Both teams came home with first place wins on February 18 after participating in the Montclair State University Cheer Competition in Hackensack.  Much has gone into their success; the girls attend weekly tumbling and strength-training classes as well as practicing three times per week.  “We are so proud of them. Their hard work and dedication to the sport shows,” said Allison Evans, senior coach.  “The girls have been receiving higher scores each week which is exactly what we’re looking for.  Their first place wins this past weekend proves that both teams have what it takes to succeed!”  Overall, the junior team has competed in three competitions and finished third and first.  The senior team has had four competitions and finished fourth, third, first and first.  With several competitions still to come, things can only go up from here.  If you are interested in learning more about the program or potentially interested in trying out for a spot on the team next year, please email
