VERONA, NJ — Although the tap water is safe to drink, Verona residents are being advised to refrain from unnecessary water usage due to power issues with Passaic Valley Water Commission in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias on Tuesday.

The township sent out an e-blast Wednesday morning requesting that residents refrain from watering of lawns, filling of pools, laundry, dishes and running the faucet unnecessarily.

PSEG has been out Wednesday morning working to restore power around town and expects power to be restored some time Thursday. In the meantime, the township has reminded residents that all generators should be run outside the home.

All downed trees should be reported to the Verona police by calling 973-239-5000. The township also advised that all downed power lines and trees should be avoided. Any downed wires should be considered live and dangerous.
