Verona Lions Club Seeks New Members

VERONA, NJ - The Verona Lions Club is seeking civic-minded individuals to join the orgnaization and make a difference.

The club is a service organization dedicated to the health and well-being of Verona residents.  Members get an opportunity to advance worthy causes, become leaders in the community and work side-by-side with old and new friends for the betterment of Verona and its residents.  The Lions motto is "We Serve" and the club has lived up to that since 1951 by providing services such as hearing and sight testing.  They have donated a car to the Township of Verona, which is used to transport the sick and elderly to doctor's appointments.  

The organization raises money thorugh various events and activities such as the annual "Super 50/50 Raffle" and the "White Cae Program."

All money raised is redistributed to various charities, organizations and individuals in Verona.

Verona High School seniors receive scholarships from the club every year and holiday fruit baskets and gift cards are provided to several needy Verona families.

Got Mint? Bayonne Police Charge Man with Stealing $1,000 in Toothpaste

BAYONNE, NJ – The case of a near lifetime supply of toothpaste that was taken from a Bayonne pharmacy has been solved.

Marcos Baez, 40, of Isabella Avenue, was charged with four counts of shoplifting after police identified him as the person responsible for stealing more than $1,000 worth of toothpaste, according to a police release.
