Blotter Report May 13, 2016 – May 20, 2016
8:44 AM Sgt. Tim Banta took a report of lost property from a Franklin Street resident. The resident reported that a package he was expecting never arrived. When checking the tracking number, the last location for the package was in Florida. The resident has been in contact with the sender of the package.
9:53 AM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of found property from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported that he found two keys in his driveway.
1:16 PM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of a dispute on a bus on Bloomfield Avenue. The dispute was between a passenger and the bus driver over the amount of a fare. The passenger was provided with transportation to another bus stop.
1:23 PM Officer Thomas Conroy responded to a Bloomfield Avenue business on a report of an erratic driver in the parking lot. While speaking with the operator of the vehicle the officer detected an order of an alcoholic beverage. The operator, Joseph Quinones of Verona refused to complete field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member.
1:35 PM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of a neighbor dispute on Linn Drive. The second floor resident reported that he has been having a problem with the first floor tenant who is accusing him of making too much noise in the apartment. The resident has been in touch with the property manager regarding this matter.
12:17 PM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of illegal dumping on Commerce Court. Two males were observed dumping flooring and building material. The males were advised to clean up the materials that they had dumped and were issued summonses.
2:50 PM Officer Robert Maguire took a report of found property from a Nutley resident. The resident reported finding a Visa Debit Card on Park Avenue. The officer was able to make contact with the owner of the card and the property was returned.
11:02 AM Officer Ed Ruff investigated an illegally parked vehicle on Bloomfield Avenue. After making several attempts to locate and contact the owner, the vehicle was towed for being an abandoned motor vehicle.
11:53 AM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of a stolen wallet from a Hillside Avenue resident. The resident reported that while in Verona Park, his wallet was stolen from his stroller. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and personal identification. The resident was advised to contact his credit card companies and to monitor his credit reports.
7:03 PM Sgt. Dave Wardrope took a report of property damage from a Laurel Court resident. The resident reported that a tree had fallen causing damage to the front of his home. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
11:25 PM Officer Robert Juliano took a report of a larceny from a Paterson resident. The resident reported he had his vehicle parked by a valet service at a local business. Upon returning to his vehicle he discovered money was missing from his wallet.
11:21 AM Sgt. Tim Banta arrested Charles Kylis, of Verona on an outstanding warrant from the Mt. Olive Municipal Court. Kylis was transported to police headquarters and processed. Mt. Olive provided him with a new court date.
4:39 PM Officer Michael Barone took a report of fraud from a Lynwood Road resident. The resident reported that he received a call from an unknown male who reported a liability claim against the resident. The male had the resident’s social security number but would not provide the resident with any details of the claim. The male did ask the resident for additional personal information which he did not provide. The resident contacted the credit reporting agencies and was provided with identity theft information.
4:41 PM Officer Jordan Descafano took a report of property damage at FN Brown School. The custodian reported finding a broken window in the rear of the school. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
9:47 AM Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a suspicious person and vehicle at a Grove Avenue business. An employee of the business reported that there was a suspicious vehicle in the lot earlier in the day occupied by a white male that was talking to a child in the parking lot. The employee was advised to contact the police if the vehicle returns. All officers were advised of the vehicle and actor description.
1:20 PM Officer Anthony Condorelli took a report of a dispute from a Hillside Avenue resident. The resident reported a dispute with a contractor that she hired earlier this year over work that was done, as well as the cost. The resident is concerned as the contractor has a key to her house. The officer contacted the contractor who will return the key to police headquarters and cease all contact with the resident.
2:14 PM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of a noise complaint from a Lakeview Place resident. The resident reported that he is having an ongoing problem with a neighbor who sits in his vehicle and plays loud music late at night. The resident reported that he has tried speaking with the neighbor. He was advised of complaint procedures.
