Blotter Report May 20, 2016 – May 27, 2016

5/20/16

7:54 AM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of found property from a Lakeview Place resident.  The resident reported finding a NJ Driver’s license and several credit cards on the ground.  The owner was contacted and the property was returned.

9:58 AM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of a dispute at a Bloomfield Avenue business.  The business owner stated that a customer who was dissatisfied with the service she received pushed him.  The customer was advised that she is no longer welcome at the business.  The business owner was advised of complaint procedures.

4:50 PM Officer Thomas Conroy took a report of found property from a Fairview Avenue resident.  The resident reported that she found a set of keys on Bloomfield Avenue.  The property owner was contacted and will respond to pick up her property.

6:22 PM Officer Michael Barone conducted a motor vehicle stop after a random check of the registration showed that the vehicle owner was suspended.  After obtaining the operators credentials, a warrant was found from the North Plainfield Municipal Court.  The operator, Adrienne Cusick of Cranford, was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.  After processing Cusick was released and advised to contact the North Plainfield Municipal Court.

5:20 PM Sgt. Dave Wardrope took a report of a fraud that occurred at a Bloomfield Avenue business.  The business manager reported that a male had made two purchases at the business using two separate credit cards.  Shortly after the transactions were completed, the business received a phone call from a Bridgeport Ct resident who reported his credit card was used to make a fraudulent purchase at the business.  Total amount of fraudulent purchases was approximately $540.

11:53 AM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of lost property from a Montrose Avenue resident.  The resident reported that he lost his wallet which contained his NJ Driver’s license, credit card, cash and several personal identification cards.  The resident was advised to cancel his credit card.

5/23/2016

12:05 AM Officer Rob Juliano conducted a motor vehicle stop after a random check of the registration showed that the vehicle owner was suspended.  After obtaining the operators credentials, a warrant was found from the Roselle Park Municipal Court.  The operator, Temah Robinson of Roselle was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.  After processing Robinson was released with a new court date.

1:19 PM Officer Ruff responded to Derwent Avenue on a report of paint in the roadway. The officer was able to locate a workman who reported that a canister of paint had tipped over in his truck and leaked onto the roadway.  The workman was issued a summons for the spilled paint and was advised to clean the paint from the roadway.

2:54 PM Officer Chris Scheper took a report of a barking dog from a Claremont Avenue resident.  The resident reported that the neighbor’s dogs bark continuously and has been an ongoing problem.  The dog owner was issued a summons for violation of the township noise ordinance.

5/24/2016

1:41 PM Officer William Frazee took a report of trespassing at a Bloomfield Avenue business.  The store owner reported that an unwanted person was in the business who had previously been advised that he was not welcome on the property.  The officer spoke to the person, advised him not to return to the property, and sent him on his way.

3:41 PM Officer Steven Young took a report of found property from a Malvern Place resident.  The resident reported finding a passport several days earlier.  The officer was unable to contact the owner of the passport.

4:30 PM Officer Chris Scheper took a report of trespassing at a Grove Avenue business.  The store owner reported an unwanted person on the property.  The individual has been advised in the past that he is not welcome on the property.   The officer spoke to the person, advised him not to return to the property, and sent him on his way.

4:34 PM Officer Scheper took a report of harassment from a Claremont Avenue resident.  The resident reported that her neighbor has harassed her for the past several years.  The resident was advised of complaint procedures.

5/25/2016

10:16 AM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of illegal dumping at a Pompton Avenue business. The business owner reported that a white male in a blue van dumped several cabinets in his dumpster.  He was unable to provide any further information about the van.

10:47 AM Officer William Frazee arrested Thomas Tucci of Verona on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court.  Tucci was transported to police headquarters for processing.  After processing he was transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark.

12:19 AM Officer Thomas Conroy took a report of found property from a Fairview Avenue resident.  The resident reported finding a cell phone on Bloomfield Avenue. 

4:30 PM Sgt. Robert Shafer took a report of lost property from a Fairview Avenue resident.  The resident reported losing his Township ID Card and NJ DMV ID Card.  He was provided with information to obtain new identification cards.

5/26/2016

5:45 AM Officer Robert Juliano conducted a motor vehicle stop on Pompton Avenue after a random check of the license plate showed an active warrant for the vehicle owner.  The officer obtained the operator’s credentials as well as identification from the passenger.  The passenger, Veronica Gaines of Newark, was placed under arrest on the warrant from the Newark Municipal Court.  Gaines was transported to police headquarters for processing.  After processing she was released with a new court date for Newark Municipal court.

3:30 PM Officer Michael Barone took a report of property damage from a Linden Avenue resident.  The resident reported after having his car washed, he discovered that the front windshield was cracked.  Value of the damage is unknown at this time.
