11:15 AM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of found property from a Brookdale Avenue resident. The resident reported finding a license plate on Sunset Avenue. The owner was located and the item was returned.
4:22 PM Sgt. John Lecreux accepted bail from Patrick Maniraho of West Orange who turned himself in on an outstanding warrant from the Verona Municipal Court. Maniraho posted bail and was given a new court date.
11:25 PM Officers Robert Maguire and Alyssa Kirby responded to the area of Wayland Drive and Valhalla Way on a report of 3 males attempting to remove street signs. Officer Kirby discovered the sign at Valhalla Rd and Sylvan Way was missing. Officers searched the area for the three males with negative results.
2:02 AM Officer Maguire responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to a report of an unresponsive male on Woodland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year- old male from Union who was intoxicated and had passed out. The rescue squad transported him to Mountainside Hospital and a family member was notified.
2:31 AM Sgt Robert Shafer reported being flagged down by a male at a Bloomfield Avenue business who reported a dispute inside the business as his employees were preparing to close. The officer spoke with all parties involved. It appears there was a verbal dispute and a third party attempted to intervene in breaking up the dispute. All parties left the area.
8:07 am Officer Brenda Huber responded to a Linden Avenue residence on a report of criminal mischief. The resident reported that the tops had been knocked off his fence posts and that some of the tops were also cracked. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
9:41 AM Officer Brendan Huber took a report of found property from a Linden Avenue resident. The resident reported finding a license plate on Bloomfield Avenue near Montrose Avenue. The officer located the owner and the property was returned.
10:12 PM Officer Giovanni DeSomma responded along with the Verona Rescue Squad to the area of Church St and Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a male who fell. After treatment for leg and arm injuries, the victim was transported to Mountainside Hospital.
1:20 PM Det Anthony Condorelli arrested John Carluccio of Montclair on charges of theft and credit card theft. The charges are related to the theft of a credit card on January 12, 2017 at a Pompton Avenue business.
3:24 PM Officer Brian McMahon took a report of a found cell phone from an Otsego Road resident. The resident reported finding a cell phone on Sunset Avenue. The officer contacted the cell provider in an attempt to locate the owner.
4:27 PM Officer Brian McMahon took a report of a lost license plate from a Green Acres Drive resident. The resident reported that he lost the license plate from his motorcycle. The plate was entered into the state computer system.
9:53 PM Officer Brian McMahon responded along with the Verona Fire Department on a report of a smell of smoke on Claridge Drive. The fire department was able to locate a fire in a flower pot on a balcony. The fire was extinguished. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
1:02 PM Lt. Michael Ruglio took a report of a fraud from a Hillside Avenue resident. The resident reported that he found unauthorized charges on his Home Depot credit card. The resident also reported receiving a credit card in the mail which he did not apply for. The resident was in contact with the credit card companies. He was provided with identity theft information.
8:24 PM While on patrol, Officer Chris Scheper observed a vehicle stopped on Bloomfield Avenue with the hazard lights on. While checking on the occupants of the vehicle, Officer Scheper found that they were having a verbal dispute. Both parties stated it was only a verbal dispute. Both parties continued on their way.
9:49 PM Officer Brian McMahon responded to a report of a dispute on Fairview Avenue. Officers spoke to a Fairview Avenue resident who reported that while walking his dog, he was confronted by a white male who was also walking on Fairview Avenue. The male approached the resident, removed his shirt and took a fighting stance and then attempted to kick the dog. The resident then walked away from the area and the actor was last seen walking North on Fairview Avenue. The area was searched for with negative results.
9:18 AM While on patrol, Officer Robert Maguire reported finding a license plate on Pompton Avenue. The owner was located and the property was returned.
12:59 PM Officer Ed Ruff took a report of property damage on Linn Drive. A tree fell onto a fence causing an unknown amount of damage to the fence.
6:19 PM Officer Thomas Conroy took a report of property damage from a Park Court resident. The resident reported she was making a right turn from Bloomfield Avenue onto Green Acres Drive when she heard a loud bang on the passenger side of her car. After checking her vehicle, she discovered the passenger side mirror was shattered. It does not appear that anything struck the mirror. The value of the damage is unknown at this time.
7:11 PM Officer Steve Young responded along with the Verona Fire Department to a reported gas leak at a Fairview Avenue residence. PSE&G was also on the scene and reported a low level of Carbon Monoxide coming from the oven but no gas leak. The gas to the oven was shut off and the resident was advised to have it repaired.
11:33 AM Officer Robert Maguire conducted a motor vehicle stop on Lakeside Avenue after the patrol car license plate reader indicated the vehicle had a suspended registration. The vehicle was impounded and summonses were issued for suspended registration and uninsured vehicle. The operator made his own arrangements for a ride.
4:09 PM Officer Steve Young took a report of a fraud from a Claridge Drive resident. The resident reported that a credit card was opened in his name without authorization. The resident has been in contact with the issuing bank. He was provided with identity theft information.
