VERONA, NJ – Verona was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Partners in Health Foundation which will be used to purchase outdoor exercise equipment for the township.

Last year, Verona’s Health and Social Services Coordinator Connie Pifher applied for a $10,000 grant which enabled the creation of the “Verona in Motion” campaign.  During a presentation to the council last year, Pifer noted that she intended to resubmit the grant annually and she kept her word, earning the $5,000 grant for Verona.

“Last year we received $10,000 for various equipment that could be used at the Verona Community Center for exercise,” said Township Manager Matt Cavallo.  “Connie felt we needed more money from them and went back and applied for $5000 more.”

Cavallo said the equipment will most likely be placed near the playground outside of the community center and that the $5,000 would cover the entire project.
