On Friday, April 7, Brookdale, FN Brown, Forest Avenue and Laning elementary schools in Verona participated in the Hats On for Progeria fundraiser. Students and faculty were encouraged to wear their favorite hat to school with a $1 donation in support of the Progeria Research Foundation. Verona resident, Zoey Penny is a 7-year old girl living with progeria, a rare, fast aging disease. Kaleigh Cella, Zoey's kindergarten teacher, organized a district wide fundraiser which raised over $1,500. All proceeds will go directly to the Progeria Research Foundation.
