VERONA, NJ - After a stellar lacrosse career at Verona High School, Ava Anderson will continue to play in college -- taking the field for Cornell University in Ithaca in the spring.

The TAPinto Verona/Cedar Grove Athlete of the Week is one of 10 newcomers to the team announced by head coach Jenny Graap on the Cornell athletics website on Aug. 11.  Anderson joins the team as a walk-on and is a freshman in the school of engineering.

During her career at VHS, Anderson scored 141 goals, including 68 during he senior year.  She earned Super Essex Conference division and Essex County first team selections in both her junior and senior year and played in the New Jersey All-Star game this past season with her teammate Dana Pena.  Anderson also helped lead the Hillbillies to a Freedom South division championship this past spring and was named Female Athlete of the Year for Verona.
