VERONA, NJ - Verona High School junior Carly Waterman is one of 52 players named as a finalist for's National High School Junior Volleyball Player of the Year.

To be considered as a finalist, junior players had to make a "massive" impact on both her team and state -- meaning the player had to have the best statistics on  her team in her position and be one of the best players in the state regardless of school year.

"Though Verona finished runner up in the New Jersey Group 1 state championships, no one had a better year offensively than Waterman did for the Hillbillies," PrepVolleyball said.  "She registered a state-leading 464 kills, while hitting .459 for a team that improved from 16-13 last season to 32-2 this past fall. She averaged 6.54 kills per set. She also added 207 digs and 35 aces."
