BELMAR, NJ — While the summer may be winding down, the music scene continues to heat up at Waves of Main.

And Lou and Kathy Farese, co-owners of the landmark restaurant at the corner of 10th Avenue and Main Street, couldn’t be happier. That’s because they are true believers that a good meal is made even better when listening to talented musicians.

“With this being our first summer at our new location in Belmar, we have really enjoyed bringing the best entertainment to a downtown community that has so much to offer,” said Kathy, who along with her husband had owned Kathy and Lou’s Kitchen in nearby Manasquan before taking over Waves on Main last fall.

“We’ve made so many new friends in such a short amount of time,” she said. “So if you haven’t done so already, come in, sit down and relax. If you like a meal that is served prepared to order, in a comfortable and casual setting, Waves is definitely worth a visit. We hope to see some old friends and continue making new ones."

Here’s the musical line-up for this weekend.

On Friday August 25, Jersey Corn is back for an encore appearance, featuring the acoustic and melodic mastery of Terri Cieri and Les G, who are known for their signature “two guitars, two voices” harmonic sound.

Performing for the first time at Waves on Main on Saturday, August 26, will be the Vel Johnson Trio, with Johnson on saxophone, Greg Gambone on keyboards and Jonathan Sims Sr. on drums — all mixing it up with a fun-filled evening of jazz and blues.

Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. on both nights.

On the Waves on Main menu, there is something for everyone — from appetizers and small plates of such favorites as chicken wings served with homemade buffalo, sweet thai, teriyaki or barbecue sauce to full selection of seafood, steak and chicken entrees, each prepared to order and served with a house salad or soup.

For dessert, Waves on Main is serving up the sweet and sumptuous creations of Deescakes of Freehold, including key lime tart, butter rum bundt cake and its highly acclaimed cheesecake.

The 150-seat restaurant is conveniently located in Belmar’s central shopping district, nestled among its many shops, in walking distance of the train station, and just blocks from the Belmar marina and beach.

Waves on Main is open Tuesday through Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 2 to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  While it’s closed on Monday, except for Labor Day next weekend, the Fareses will make an exception for anyone who would like to book the restaurant for a party or special gathering.

To verify hours of operation or make reservations, call 732-503-7137 or visit Waves on Main’s Facebook page for the latest news and menu updates.
