The Verona boys winter track team earned the North 2, Group 1 State Sectional Title in Staten Island on Friday, while the girls team captured second place.

Due to some great results, Verona will send a large contingent to the group championships this weekend. 

In addition to Fogarty and Skrivanic, Cole Martin (pole vault), Aidan Murphy (400m), David Navarro (1600m and 800m), Sean Carney (3200m), and Jake McConnachie and Andrew Hunt (high jump) advanced to the group championships.

On the girls side, eight members qualified in addition to Petrino and Valera, including Jenika Ying (800m), Bridget O’Donnell (1600m and 3200m), Rebecca Katsios (pole vault), Abby Cleary (shotput), and the 4×400 team of Juliana Squilanti, Amanda Caldera, Clara Frizzi, and Olivia Vogel.
