World-renowned Family Therapist and Child Psychiatrist to host workshop at Family Service League in Montclair

World-famous family therapist and child psychiatrist, Maurizio Andolfi, is coming to Family Service League in Montclair to present his work on Troubled Adolescents and their Families on June 27th, 2016.  The all day workshop will help mental health professionals and educators understand and cope with serious problems that face adolescents today including eating disorders and multiple hospitalizations.

“I have been inspired by Dr. Andolfi since I first met him in Rome in 2005. He is one of the best clinicians and theorists I have ever worked with.  I am thrilled that he is making a stop in Montclair after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in Denver, from The American Family Therapy Academy,” stated Paula Ochs, LCSW, Associate Clinical Director of Family Service League.

Dr. Andolfi has been a therapist, teacher, and consultant on issues facing children and adolescents for over 45 years.  Hallmarks of his approach are recruiting the child as a co-therapist in entering the family system, mobilizing resources in the family and wider system, playfulness, humor, metaphor, provocation, the use of non-verbal communication skills and of live consultation.  Additionally, he has conducted intensive practicums internationally on the personal handicaps of the therapist and the use of self of the therapist.
