WEST ORANGE, NJ - Cedar Grove High School Wrestling took second place at the 2017 Essex County Tournament in West Orange on Friday.
The second place finish was the highest finish ever for a Cedar Grove wrestling team in the history of the Essex County Tournament. The team scored a total of 166 points finishing behind only Seton Hall Prep who had 228 points.
Anthony Clarizio became the 16th Essex County Tournament 3-time champ after taking first at 126lbs. Shawn Rooney (132lbs), Joe McCarthy (170lbs), and Dan DiPrenda (182lbs) all finished in second place in their weight classes. Jack Schultz (138lbs) and Vasilli Cook (152lbs) also reached the podium by finishing in third.
Cedar Grove will host Nutley on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
