March 4, 2018 – March 11, 2018

On March 7, 2018 at 12:16 a.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle being operated without a front license plate. The operator, a 23 year old male from West Orange, was arrested after it was determined that his license was suspended. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On March 8, 2018 at 11:43 p.m., officers responded to a Crestmont Road address to investigate a burglary. The homeowner returned home and heard someone exit the residence through the back door. It was determined that an unknown actor had burglarized the residence and fled upon the arrival of the homeowner. The incident remains under investigation.

On March 9, 2018 at 7:47 a.m., officers responded to a Crestmont Road address to investigate a burglary to a motor vehicle during the overnight hours. The vehicle had been left unlocked in the driveway of the residence. The incident remains under investigation.

On March 9, 2018 at 10:09 a.m., officers responded to a Crestmont Road address to investigate an attempted burglary to a residence. An unknown actor had entered a garage and attempted unsuccessfully to gain access to the residence. The incident remains under investigation.

On March 9, 2018 at 3:45 p.m., patrol officers were investigating a civil matter when they discovered a large quantity of a controlled dangerous substance in a residence. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a 50 year old male from Cedar Grove for possession of anabolic steroids. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in Superior Court.

On March 10, 2018 at 8:00 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for an inoperable brake lamp. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 34 year old male operator from Irvington for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.

On March 10, 2018 at 11:35 a.m., officers responded to a Westview Court address to investigate a burglary. The resident returned home and discovered that someone had broken the glass out the sliding glass door in the rear of the residence. Numerous items were taken from the residence. This incident remains under investigation.

RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED TO LOCK THEIR HOMES AND CARS. IF YOU HAVE AN ALARM, MAKE SURE IT IS ARMED WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING YOUR HOME. REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY TO THE POLICE.
