October 28, 2019 – November 3, 2019
On October 30, 2019 at 10:18 p.m., Chief Joseph Cirasa was off duty when he observed three suspicious individuals in a Cedar Street driveway. He observed one of the individuals burglarize a vehicle in the driveway. He relayed this information to patrol officers as he continued to observe the actors. Officers responded and three individuals were taken into custody. A 14-year-old male from Newark, an 18-year-old male from Orange and a 19 year old male from Newark were arrested and charged with burglary. The adults were transported to the Essex County Jail and the juvenile was transported to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.
On November 1, 2019 at 8:09 p.m., Ptl. Justin Westra stopped a vehicle that failed to stop for a red traffic signal. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 28-year old male operator from Bloomfield for driving while suspended and an outstanding traffic warrant. He was processed and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On November 2, 2019 at 10:36 a.m., Ptl. Raymond Cassella stopped a vehicle for improper passing on Pompton Avenue. It was determined that the 23-year old male driver from Massachusetts was driving with a suspended license. He was arrested, processed, and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
On November 2, 2019 at 3:15 p.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers stopped a vehicle displaying an expired inspection decal. It was determined that the 50-year old male driver from Bloomfield was driving with a suspended license. He was arrested, processed, and released with a summons to appear in municipal court.
