Tours of Pioneer Trails Day Camp at Caldwell University on Saturday, Jan. 26

Families curious about the West Essex YMCA’s Pioneer Trails Day Camp are invited to Caldwell University on Saturday, Jan. 26 for a tour.

Tours start at 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and noon at Caldwell University, 120 Bloomfield Ave. Families can register by emailing Camp Director Joanne Browne, the West Essex YMCA associate executive director, at jbrowne@metroymcas.org.

Accredited by the American Camp Association, Pioneer Trails serves children grouped by grade from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Campers take part in sports, swim lessons and recreational swimming, performing arts, science experiments and field trips. Reading time and STEM lessons are incorporated into all curricula. Pioneer Trails uses the university’s air-conditioned full-size gym, classrooms and computer lab, as well as the campus’ tennis courts, fields and outdoor pool staffed by YMCA certified lifeguards.

Parents are invited to contact the YMCA at 973-992-7500 with questions, or visit westessexymca.org. A camp information session will be held Feb. 12, 6:30-8 p.m. and a camp fair, filled with fun activities, will run 3-5 p.m. on March 3 at the YMCA. Pioneer Trails tours will be offered again on March 3, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
