Mary V. Corso, 99, of West Orange, N.J. formerly of Verona, N.J. passed away on December 19, 2017. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Cremation is private. Mary V. Corso, 99, of West Orange, N.J. formerly of Verona, N.J. passed away on December 19, 2017. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Cremation is private. Interment will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Wolsey Street in Trenton, on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Noon. A private memorial service will be held after the holidays. Born in Trenton, N.J. to Dominick and Angelina, she was a lifelong resident of Trenton until 2003 when she moved to be Verona to be closer with her grandchildren, eventually settling in West Orange. She was an excellent student but left school in the 9th grade to support her family, purchasing a home for her parents by the time she was 21. She loved her work as a teacher’s aide at the Washington School in Trenton and was actively involved with Immaculate Conception Church in Trenton as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister and member and president of the Ladies of the Blessed Sacrament. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Vincent L. Corso and brother, Thomas J. Valeri, Sr., among many other siblings, she is survived by her son, Vincent M. Corso and his wife, Christine; grandchildren, Julia Rose and Peter Vincent; brother, Dominick Valeri, Jr.; sister-in-law, Gloria C. Valeri; and nieces, Ann Louise Hawkins, Faith Perrone Gavrish, and Donna Pratt, and their children and grandchildren.
