CEDAR GROVE/VERONA, NJ -- Many events in our community have been postponed or canceled in response to the risks associated with COVID-19 or coronavirus.  TAPinto Verona/Cedar Grove has compiled a list of what we have seen so far. We know there are more, so if you have an event that you feel should be added to the list, please email jmoreno@tapinto.net and we will add it.  

Cedar Grove

  • Schools:  Cedar Grove public schools will close beginning March 16 through March 27 and move to remote learning.  All extracurricular activities will be canceled or postponed during this time.
  • Recreation:  All recreation programs are canceled until further notice.
  • Library:  The Library will be closed through at least March 27.
  • St. Catherine’s Tricky Tray:  The Tricky Tray scheduled for March 13 has been postponed.
  • South End School’s Bingo Night:  Bingo was scheduled for March 14, but has been canceled.
  • CGHS Lacrosse Pep Rally:  The pep rally which was scheduled for March 20 has been canceled.
  • CGHS Orange Invitational Volleyball Tournament:  The annual tournament put on by the Sport Management class scheduled for March 26 had been postponed.  A new date is to be determined.  
  • Cedar Grove Chamber of Commerce has postponed the following events: The West Essex Business Partnership Networking at Thatcher McGhee's on March 24, the Business Networking Event at Investors Bank on March 26, and the Multi-Chamber Mixer at Ghost Hawk Brewing Col set for April 7.

  • Schools:  Verona public schools will close beginning March 16 for students so teachers can finalize remote learning plans.  Online instruction will begin on March 18 and go through March 27 when the situation will be reevaluated. All extracurricular activities will be canceled or postponed during this time.
  • The Library: The Library will be closed beginning 3 p.m. on March 13, with plans to reopen on March 30.
  • Verona Together’s Cornhole Tournament:  The charity event scheduled for March 14 has been postponed.
  • Bunny Brunch: The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona has canceled its annual Bunny Brunch scheduled for March 28. Anyone who has purchased tickets already will receive a full refund.
  • VFEE Teacher Toast: The Teacher Toast scheduled for Friday, March 27, is being postponed. 
  • Verona United Soccer:  Start of season postponed to April 19.
  • Verona Lacrosse:  Season suspended for at least two weeks.
  • Cameco Redevelopment Info Session: The information session scheduled with the developer of the Cameco factory lot scheduled for March 11 was canceled.  A new date is supposed to be scheduled.  
  • Verona Music Trip: Verona High School music students trip to Cleveland State University from March 12 to 15 has been canceled.
