CEDAR GROVE, NJ - The Cedar Grove High School Junior/Senior Prom which was scheduled for June 4 had been moved to July 14.  Cedar Grove High School principal Rick Mangili announced the change in an email to parents and guardians Monday morning.

The email stated:

I am sure many of my senior parents are concerned with our traditional end-of-the-year celebrations and whether we will be able to hold them.  I share your concern about these events, with that being said, we have moved our Junior/Senior Prom to Tuesday, July 14.  The concern of social distancing may still play a major part n New Jersey in early June, thus our decision to move the date from June 4 to mid-July was based on the health and safety of our students.  Additionally, with all non-essential stores being closed since March 16, I am sure we have students who have yet fo find dresses and make hair appts. etc.

Mangili also touched on the graduation ceremony scheduled for June 19, saying he remains hopeful that students will return to school in May or early June, but noted the administration has begun to research alternative options for graduation "to ensure our seniors have a meaningful closure to their high school years."
